What is UPSC?
UPSC stands for Union Public Service Commission. It is India’s central recruiting body for many of the country’s most respected government jobs, especially Group A and some Group B posts. UPSC conducts exams for civil services, defense officer entry, engineering services, medical services, scientific services, and several other national-level recruitments.

Core syllabus difference from CSE
IFS uses the CSE prelims, then a separate mains with scientific and environment-focused papers. The questions are more technical than IAS-level general administration questions.
